The dive Calcara begins at the south of Naxos and ends at Greek Bay, often entered by boat. It is a reef that fascinates all divers, beginners and experts alike, for its abundance of marine life. There are schools of barracudas, goatfish, stingrays and moray eels, as well as the ever present house groupers to be observed at every dive. Some eagle rays can be seen, especially during the summer months. And with some luck you may encounter the big Sun Fish. Due to the water current condition of the channel strait, very spectacular hard coral formations have evolved. The reef falls off gradually from shallow water to a depth of about 20 meters (sandy bottom, ideal for beginners) and further down to a maximum depth of 30 meters.
