The capo Taormina dive site lies about one kilometre to the south of Mazzaro Bay and is an easy dive for divers of all levels. The reef flat is cut away in a series of shallow bays at around 8 meter. Outside, the reef drops away in a wall of buttresses and sandy gullies to a depth of about 20 m. The best diving here is done shallow, amongst the wall outside of the bays. Morays and octopus inhabit this area. At night the reef comes alive with fluorescent plankton, Spanish dancers and squids on the sand. The shape of the reef dictates that inside of the headland, currents run towards the north. Don't forget while surfacing to watch the majesty view of the largest volcano in Europe, the mount Etna.
